Happy Friday!

I know I know, I’ve been slacking on the whole “Frugal Friday” thing… but here is what I have for you today

#1 Who came up with the Idea to tax people who earn more money, more than others? I have always known that people who make more money are taxed more, but I didn’t really get it until I started living it. 30% tax? really? not to mention those who make a goodly amount of money are taxed %60 - %75 ?? That means they get less money than the government takes from them. Who came up with that? really?? I could go on a rant about that but I will refrain for you.

#2 On a happier note, :) I have found it very beneficial to go over finances frequently with my husband. We go over them together, at least every week. This way, we both know how much money we have, and where it is going.  It works for us :)

And now, something not having to do with money….

Hans and I have been reading one of the best trilogies ever!

I would struggle to say that I am “a reader”. I don’t read all that often, but give me a good book, and I will not put it down!

Hans loves to read, and he has always wanted me to read books with him…. So I told him to find me a good book and I would read it. I will only give it 2 chapters, and If I am not into by then, I won’t finish it.

Well… this trilogy ( and Hans) did not disappoint! I was into it by the first paragraph. Dare I say it… It’s better than The Hunger Games!

The first book is called “ The Maze Runner”

And the second book is called “ The Scorch Trials”

I just finished The second book today. The third book doesn’t come out until October… I hate having to wait!

Read them! You won’t be disappointed. I promise!

And In case you were wondering…. only 4 more weeks left In DC! And today is also our 1 year 11 month anniversary. ( I know you wanted to know that)

Happy Friday :)

A Few Things

This week has been great! I have been off work so that has given me some free time :)

I decided to cut my hair… short. Well, short for me.

The last time I had my hair “short” was probably when I was about 8 years old…. if you count that. I have always liked having my hair long, and never even thought about cutting it short..

So why did I? Well…. I have no Idea. It was very random, I just got up a few days ago, and decided to get it cut. I didn’t even think about it that much…. I just did it.

Come to find out, I wasn’t as attached to my hair as I thought I was. I thought I would feel more sad, and then decide I was going to grow it out again….. oddly, I haven’t felt that way at all. It doesn’t even feel weird to me…. it feels natural…. Maybe my hair is supposed to be this way! I don’t know….

Anyway…… I ended up cutting almost 8 inches off! I think 9 inches is required for locks of love. I’m thinking about growing it out again, and then cutting it off and donating it. I could do the whole short hair in the summer thing :)

Here is a before picture:

Sorry it's a bad blurry  picture! But you get the point….

Today I went to “DC cupcakes” … (you know, the TLC show? ) With some friends, and it was so fun. We totally looked like tourists.

We had to wait in line.

A Birthday!

034

This weekend we were able to celebrate Hans’ Birthday!

His family sent him this cute card! I love it! He was such a cute little boy :)

On Hans’ birthday, we decided to do some sightseeing in DC…. It was a little bit of a rough start since we drove around for a long time looking for parking… In the crazy DC traffic….. I feel bad for the people I see in cars when I’m walking around in DC… even though we have been walking for miles and we are drenched in sweat.

We were able to go to the National Art Gallery

Then we made our way to the National Monument. Hans really wanted to ride all the way to the top of it, but the tickets were all gone.

021

Here is a picture of the Capitol…. we haven’t actually been all the way to the grounds yet….

016

The Lincoln Memorial is directly across from the Washington Monument. I told Hans that we should start walking to it after we were done at the Washington Monument, but he said it was too far to walk. I had to agree because it was SO hot, and even though it looked close, it would still be about a mile….. further from where we were parked.

023

024

The sad thing is, they are doing construction on the reflection pool…. I don’t know why they would do that during the biggest tourist season. It should normally look like this:

And this:

Kinda lame that it is all dirt right now!

We also walked over the the Holocaust museum, but they were all out of tickets for that too… And when we went to go see the National Archives, there was a huge line outside that we didn’t want to wait in…. It wasn’t a very lucky day for us…

Hans decided her wanted to have dinner at an Italian place that has great pizza!

026

029

It was Delicious :)

That night we had our friends over for a little party.

030

031

Isn’t he so cute?

037

I mean… Handsome?

Yes… yes he is

Happy Birthday to my Wonderful Husband!
