So Funny

So yesterday was good. we decided to go out for dinner, and then watch a movie at home. I normally wouldn’t post today but I just couldn’t pass up sharing something that I thought was SO funny. In fact, every time I even think about it, I start laughing. Now, It might not be as funny to everyone else, but it could be…. So I’m going to tell you about it anyway!

I did get permission from my husband to post this video….. I mean, he didn’t object too much, so I took that as permission.

You see, Hans can be easily distracted by T.V. and movies. It can be frustrating to me at times, but mostly I just laugh. It’s something that makes him who he is!  For a long time I have laughed, when I get a glimpse of his facial expressions when he is watching something…….. but last night I just couldn’t help but secretly record him while we were watching a movie…. on my phone ( so he couldn’t tell). I was laughing SO hard! I couldn’t keep the secret from him of course….. so I told him and we watched the video together, and we were both laughing…

Here it is:

Sorry it is sideways…. I was trying to be secretive :)

These expression weren’t some of the best I’ve seen out of him…. I love it! and I love him! I hope you found some humor out of that.

Other than that, we went to dinner last night

IMAG0095 IMAG0096

yes, I made my picture smaller… because I went out to dinner with my hair pulled back and no makeup on… I can’t believe I let myself do that! ;)

Another funny thing that happened yesterday went a little like this:

I was sucking on a sucker and I asked Hans if he wanted the gum part in the middle… he said yes, so I gave it to him.

He started chewing it, and then all of the sudden with big eyes and a surprised but slightly worried look on his face he said
“I swallowed it!” I said “what?”

He said “ It kinda tasted like tootsie roll, and I swallowed it.”

We both started laughing! Then he said:

“ I was like, oh I guess that’s chewed enough and then I swallowed it!”

Maybe I am delirious or something, but those two things just had me laughing SO hard, Hans told me I needed to take a trip to the bathroom or I would pee my pants… and it’s a good thing I did, because I probably would have!

Frugal Friday

I skipped last Friday’s post of being frugal, I know. I just haven’t had much to say!

I haven’t really done much couponing lately. Mostly because I have been discouraged by seeing this:

IMAG0093

Empty shelves. I get up on Monday morning, even before I shower, to go to the store down the street  and get a few things that are on sale, and the shelves are empty! Okay, I think this picture might lead some to think that you can just walk out of the store with those things. It’s actually a $2.99 Reward coupon that prints out after you buy the item….

It has gotten pretty frustrating, and discouraging. We live in a smaller town, and there aren’t many stores to go to.

So, since I can’t change what other people are doing, for now, I may slow down a bit. Mostly because I can’t stock up on many food items, because we will be gone for the summer. Hopefully in the fall things will be a little better! Maybe people will slow down a bit……

In other thoughts:

I for one, am learning how to love where we are are in life right now. Because sometimes I just want to skip the whole “husband in school” thing and buy a cute little house in the place we want to live, Have a husband that works a regular schedule every day, and happy little kids running around.

But lets be honest. The reality of things is…. each phase in life has it’s own challenges. And who knows where life will take us.

All I know is, that even though there are little things in life that I complain about, or even though I worry about what the future holds for us…… I have so many things to be thankful for…. and I’m sure all of you do too!

Happy Friday!

Easter

Easter is a wonderful time to celebrate! It comes when spring is starting and it reminds us of Christ’s atonement and resurrection. So grateful!

This Sunday was our first Sunday in our new family ward ( no more student married wards!) It was different, but good. A lot more older people. I think it’s just weird going to a new ward when we didn’t even move……

We ( the Easter bunny) hid our Easter baskets. We never did this in my house, but Hans’ family did, so I adopted his tradition. I feel like we have adopted a lot of my family’s traditions, So maybe I should let him have one or two ;) he gets really excited about it. I hid his on a chair under the table, which you couldn’t see when the tablecloth was on….. but I totally forgot that I put it there, so when we went to have breakfast, I pulled out the chair and everything fell on the ground. haha! So I went to hide it again, but when I went to put it in the dryer to hide….. I found mine! haha. Anyways, I hid his again and he found it, and all was well!

Hans’ is on the left and mine is on the right. haha. I got Hans a spongebob puzzle. He liked the guns I got him…. except that they didn’t shoot very well. I guess that’s what you get for spending only a few dollars at the dollar store!

P4240302

We also made Easter eggs together… I love doing things like this with him because I love watching him be creative and concentrated :)

We got the “Monster” egg kit at the store, obviously because they are so cool. My favorite is this guy.

Funny story, on Saturday I decided that it would be fun to buy Ham and eat it for our Easter dinner. I had never bought Ham before.

So I went to the deli counter and saw Ham and it was priced at $6 …. but I didn’t know it was per pound! The lady asked me “ how do you want it cut?” I replied, “ uh,….. spiral?” Then she laughed at me! after a few seconds Hans said “ oh, I think she means thickness”…… So nice of her to laugh at me and wait for us to figure it out…..

Anyways, we only got one pound, thinking that we would have to be rich to buy a whole ham….. I was talking on the phone to my dad later and he was surprised at how much we paid! apparently you can get a whole ham for close to that price, and my mom said that it was on sale right now for only $1.29/ lb. Apparently we made the mistake of getting it at the deli counter…… I felt dumb after that. But my parents probably had a good laugh! Living and learning!

We still had Ham for dinner, and then later we had some friends over for games and dessert! It was a lot of fun :)

Life is just chugging along.

In other news:

Hans got an internship offer for a place in Colorado, we are still waiting for a possible offer on another one that he wants. Because of the circumstances at the moment, we are waiting. Supposedly. It is hard to explain everything because it’s a little complicated at the moment…. but we may or may not be going to DC. We really don’t know. We don’t know when He will start, and where we will be…. it’s just a little confusing. We are trying to decide what will be best for us now, and in the future, so we have to just wait and see. Yes, it is VERY stressful.

Aside from that we are doing well. I’m having a hard time finding things to do with all the extra time I seem to have now. I have a hard time waiting and being patient….. I’m trying to push through it!

Life is good though. Life is good.

Called To Serve

And….. off he goes! My brother left for his mission Today! I have quite the mix of emotions about it. I am so happy for him! But at the same time I can’t help but be a little sad about it. We weren’t there when they actually dropped him off at the MTC. But I of course called my parents after the event and they told me how it went. Let me paint you a picture:

They drove up to drop him off. Skyler gets out, my dad helps him with his bags, and he heads into the MTC. He wasn’t searching for any hugs, or sad goodbyes. As he walked away, he didn’t even look back and wave… haha. That is so Skyler. My little sister Krista was crying, and everyone else was just quiet. They said it was all a little “surreal”. He was so ready to leave. He was never one to show emotion, so we really don’t know much about how he felt during the whole thing. He really was just so ready to go.

I’ve never experienced what it’s like to have someone you love go on a mission. I have to say, that what I feel inside is a little weird. I’m mostly happy, but then I have other emotions all mixed in. Sadness, nervousness, excitement, love, worry, fear, joy…. and much more.

I’m so glad that he will be able to share the gospel with the people in New York….. in Spanish! I know the gospel is true, the Book of Mormon is True, and we have a latter day prophet, Thomas S. Monson!  I know that my brother knows these things, and he will be able to share that with the people in New York!

Ok, So now I will give a summary of the last week!

Last Thursday we drove  down to Colorado. It was quite the drive….. When we got there, my mom had dinner ready, and there was a chocolate cake sitting on the table for my birthday! (belated) and some presents, it was so nice :)

On Friday we went to go get family pictures taken at the mall. They didn’t turn out as well as we had hoped, so we took different ones later!

We also went to Cameron’s basketball game, and took lots of trips to the park.

By the way, I’m pretty sure my siblings like Hans more than they like me. What can I say ? I chose well….. I hear it from my family (extended included)  all the time. You better believe it.

Hmmm…. I wonder if there is a limit to how long these posts can be? I guess we’ll see….

We got home Monday afternoon, and went strait to work and school. We were so tired, but the fun wasn’t over yet! We woke up yesterday morning (Tuesday) and we got in the car (again) and took a trip to Utah… to meet my family there!

We have seen hours and hours of this:

IMAG0092

We got SO lucky and had wonderful weather in Salt lake!

The last time Hans had been to Temple Square was when he was 8, so it was like the first time for him! It was such a good day!

With Skyler’s  request we went bowling.
