Anniversary Trip! Part 1

Alright, well, I’ll warn you right now. these posts are going to be long. I am going to separate them into parts.

We left on Tuesday of last week, and checked into our hotel in L.A. Then we headed to Hollywood Boulevard to go to Guinness Book of World Records, Ripley’s Believe it or Not, and The Hollywood Wax Museum.

That was the end of day one! Day two we went to Universal Studios. It was also a very fun day! They have a few new things there we hadn’t seen before.

No!

P8110039

due to my impatience about waiting in line and the hot sun, Hans insisted that he buy me a frozen lemonade (actually cherry limeade) I told him no, because it was 4 stinkin dollars for a little frozen lemonade, but being the good husband he is, he bought it for me anyways. It sure made the wait a lot more bearable.

Happy :)

Camping!

Last week, was a week of camping. Now, since all of Hans’ family already knows, it’s fair to say that I don’t like camping. bugs, dirt, animals, sleeping in tents, not my thing. yes, I feel like a wimp. But I have come to grips with the fact that everyone has their own things that they don’t like. It really does bug me that I act like such a girl, and I can’t just be a man and “rub some dirt in it”. haha.

Nonetheless, I had a really good time! And I’m glad that I married into such a fun family :)

We left on Tuesday and came back on Saturday. After setting up camp, we just hung out. Most of the week we spent doing things like: Reading, going on small hikes, picking huckleberries (wild blueberries), having campfires, singing campfire songs, and much more!

We had a really great campsite and it was only a short walk to the lake, which was really pretty.

One of the days down at the lake I fed one duck and 15 minutes later, about 12 ducks were wanting food from me, haha. I guess word spreads fast.

Hans’ family also has a canoe, which we got to ride on.

Here I am with my nieces Kyla and Avery, Steph and Curtis’ girls :)

Our air mattress filled up almost the entire tent :)

All in all it was a good trip, and we all made it safely there and home.

Oh! and I also found a cool looking fuzzy Caterpillar that I gave to Julia my niece. We didn’t think it was poisonous, but after she had been playing with it for a week, we started wondering why she kept getting cuts on her fingers. She showed us her arms and she had a lots of mosquito bites that itched. ummmm, but they were definitely too big to be mosquito bites. almost the size of half of a dollar bill, on a little girl.

Well, we looked it up online, searching through pictures and matching them up with the caterpillar, and guess what?? It was poisonous. It had been stinging her and she had gotten hives all over. after taking a good bath and taking some Benadryl, she is back to normal. Sandy made sure that that thing was destroyed. ha. I guess I'm not as good of an Aunt as I thought I was!

Those dang bugs and animals. I think they are fun to look at, but keep them away from me.

Tomorrow we are leaving for LA! first is Ripley’s Believe it or Not, then one day at Universal Studios, 3 days at DISNEYLAND, one day at a San Diego beach including cooking over a campfire, and 2 days at Sea World! nice hotels, eating out, lazing around, now that is my kind of trip.

$100= 8 nights at hotel suites  $100= food (we have gift cards, that we got for way cheap) the most expensive thing we bought were the Disneyland tickets, and we already had universal studios tickets. this could easily have been a $2,000  trip, but we are doing it for WAY less than that!

We are way excited! As good as our honeymoon was, this is probably going to be way better. Happy Anniversary to us! :)

Vacation Time!

It is time for us to have some fun!

First I’ll tell you about graduation.

We  finished off the last week of school, and got ready for my parents to come on Friday. We showed them around campus a little and then we went to have lunch/dinner at chili’s which was delicious. Then we came back and got ready for graduation. We got our caps and gowns on and waited to go into the auditorium. as soon as we got in there, we saw my parents and Cameron and Krista. It was so good to have some family there. We took pictures at graduation, but I took them on my Camera. Currently I don’t have the cord to transfer them onto my computer because we forgot to pack it and we are in California, so I can’t put them up until we get back.

Insert pictures here.

We spent the night with my parents in Idaho Falls with our Aunt Barbara, and we had breakfast with them in the morning. they left and we stayed and shopped in Idaho Falls. It was Pioneer day so there were farmers markets and such. When we got home, we packed up and got ready to leave, and said goodbye to some friends in our ward that were going to be moving before we got back from vacation.

We left at 4 in the morning on Sunday to make it to my friend and old roommate Marilee’s farewell. She is going on her mission! We got to Provo at 9 and after Sacrament we went to a brunch.

Insert pictures here.

After the brunch we drove to St. George. We stopped at Jarom and Rachel’s for a little while and then we went to spend some time with Kimmie and Richard! We spent the night at there apartment. it was so fun to get to know them better and spend some time with them. Thanks for the good time Kimmie and Richard!

We left on Monday morning, and picked up Julia our niece at Jarom and Rachel’s. They showed us a game on the Wii and I got some good pictures of it :)

The drive wasn’t too bad, still long but not bad. we spent the next day just hanging out at home, and then we left for a family reunion on Wednesday morning.

We had a reservation at a really nice hotel next to the beach. we all got a suite and they were really nice. I love hotels! It was good for me because it gave me a chance to get to know people in Hans’ family better, and to get better at names :) they are a fun family!

Over the next three days we spent good time with family. We went to the beach, they had a talent show, silent auction, and good food. I took a few pictures.

Insert pictures here. Man I wish I had my camera cord!

We left yesterday (Friday) and stopped at some good beaches. Luckily I had Hans take pictures on his camera, because we do have his cord.

I have been to the beach many times, but I have never been to a California beach. Since Hans rants and raves about how he likes them better, I had expectations :) I was told that the water was warmer, so I had to try it out.

The water was warmer, it is true. but it is still cold. The difference is, it doesn’t make your feet ache, or go numb, haha. Hans wondered why you didn’t see many people in the water at the beaches in Oregon and then he realized that it was because the water is so cold! He thought that when I went to a Cali beach I would want to get in the water…. not so. The Ocean scares me, I’m afraid that I’m going to get swept away. waist high is all you’ll see me do.

Some good things about Cali beaches. There is a good variety of beaches. The water is warmer.

Some bad things. There is a ton of people!! everywhere!! and the beach is more trashed.

So I would have to say the Oregon beaches win. I may be biased, But I don’t like that the beaches have so many people everywhere. It really is just like you see in the movies. of course I think if it was winter there would probably be less people, but anyways…. more pictures

We tried to get pictures of dolphins…

WE’RE GRADUATING!!!!

Yes, It’s true. can you believe it?? I can’t. Well maybe it’s because I have to start working, and I don’t take the certification exam until November… but in reality, I’m going to be completely DONE with classes!

Hans doesn’t feel much like he is either… because he still has two years in a Master program….. but all that aside…

We ARE graduating… so we might as well party it up!

So this week… hasn’t been too exciting, but I’ll sum it up.

Earlier in the week the sky turned a weird color and we took some pictures. I love storms, especially in the summer, and this sky reminded me of a storm. Someone told us that there had been a fire in Idaho Falls… it had to have been a pretty big fire….

On Thursday I went to grad fest and picked up our caps and gowns, and later that night my very good friend Alisha ( Alisha I love you!) who is a  photography minor, soon to be major took pictures of us in our Graduation attire. She did such a good job! take a look :)

We sent our announcements out on Saturday, Just 3 more days and we’re done!

On Friday My Medical Assisting class had a barbeque with the paramedic program. We had a competition with them starting at the beginning of the semester to collect pop caps to give to the Ronald McDonald fund for children. Whoever lost had to make dinner for the group that won…. and guess what?? We won!

So Hans and I went to the barbeque, there was a lot of food… and good company!

That night we went to go pick up the pictures for our graduation announcements at good ‘ol Wal Mart and while we were there… we bought a flat screen T'.V.   !  Yeah…. that wasn’t planned.

Because our apartment IS furnished, and we are moving to Pocatello in September… we have to buy furniture. I know, crazy right? by the time we move, we will have been married a year and never bought furniture!

Anyways, Hans has been checking online every day to find a good deal on a T.V.    …….. for me :) I want it.  When we were at the store, he was checking all the TVs out and he found one on clearance for the best price he has seen!  It was a 37” Flat screen  HD for $360…. marked down from over $500.

Yep. We bought it. Now it is sitting in our living room. It feels like Christmas morning to me every time I wake up and walk out there. Beautiful.

017

On Saturday we did homework and Studied the whole day. We also did some spring….. or summer cleaning. It was much needed, and with such a small apartment…. it isn’t too bad!

That night we went to part of the ward activity………. mostly because they were using our projector. yeah, it’s cool ;)

We left early to go to the drive in movie with Sarah and Jaren! They were doing a double feature, showing Despicable Me and Eclipse. I wanted to see Eclipse, but it was 11:30 and I had already slept through half of Despicable Me. It’s like I’m getting old. Falling asleep so early… and I’m only 20!

As my dad would always tell me “The Holy Ghost goes to bed at midnight!”…… I sure hope that isn’t true ;)

It was a good movie, and we had a fun time with Sarah and jaren, as we always do!

013

On Sunday after church we went to the nursing home in town, and did a short Sacrament meeting and gave sacrament to the people there as a ward, and it was a lot of fun! That night there was also a choir practice.

Sarah and Jaren came over for dinner and games that night

We played scrabble

015

Sarah had a little trouble reading. She read Loan as Lo- Ann. Haha

our plants are finally growing more… and have started showing flowers!
